Jody Jones is a writer, journalist, content expert and business leader who is passionate about creating stories and opportunities that delight consumers and make businesses thrive.

In her 25+ years in digital and print media, Jody has held high-level positions at Time, Inc.; Discovery Communications; Scripps Networks, Interactive (including Food Network and HGTV); Martha Stewart Living, Omnimedia and AOL. Her roles and responsibilities have included content creation, content marketing, organizational structure optimization, team and individual mentorship, P&L ownership, social media strategy, sales marketing and partner relationship development. As a senior executive, her areas of oversight have included product and program management, experience design, video development and digital technology.

Jody has taught multiplatform publishing at the New York University school of continuing education, instructing students pursuing their master’s degrees at NYU on creating content and stories across all mediums.

(Fun fact: Jody’s first job in her field was as a government beat reporter – then features editor – for community newspapers in Northwest Florida, winning a Florida Press Association award for features page writing and design as her first of many career accolades.)

Currently, Jody is a senior editor, writer and journalist for Wright Creative Agency (as well as taking clients through her LLC, Zekan Lane Consulting). She is thrilled to be with WCA, a Black-owned agency co-founded and helmed by lauded and decorated industry leader Heather Keets Wright.

Jody has a B.A. in English/Creative Writing from George Mason University, with post-graduate studies in interactive journalism at American University.

Originally from Northern Virginia, she now resides in (and loves!) Charlotte, N.C., though she considers the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan her spiritual home. Jody also cooks (for herself – and occasionally private clients, harkening back to her days as “professional” cook), runs marathons (injuries permitting), enjoys time with family (including 12 nieces and nephews – and their partners and offspring!), spoils her beagle/bulldog Janey and teaches Pilates as an expert-level instructor.
